How to field-pack the U.S. M-1928 Haversack

This tutorial is to give you the individual a base to work from. This is only one soldier's view of "field" packing the U.S. M-1928 Haversack.  It is recognized that there are multiple ways to "field" pack the U.S .M-1928 Haversack.  However, this document is to give you a ‘BASE LINE’ to work from.

With that note, here is how this GI "field" pack's his U.S. M-1928 Haversack, enjoy....

Step #1.  Take off the pack tail.

Step #2.  Extend the inner flap all the way out.

Step #3.  Lay in (1) Wool USGI Scarf to provide padding for your back.

Step #4.  Lay in one (1) M-1937 Field Service Shirt.

Step #5.  Lay in lower half (6 Units) three days worth of "C" rations.

Step #6.  Lay in the upper half (1) pair GI Drawers.

Step #7.  Lay in the upper half (1) USGI Undershirt.

Step #8.  Lay in the upper half (1) USGI Handkerchief.

Step #9.  Lay in the upper half (1) USGI Sewing Kit and (1) USGI Toiletry Kit.

Step #10.  Pull inner flap up and over the contents placed inside of the haversack and secure the contents (GO THROUGH THE LOOPS ON THE INNER FLAP!)

Step #11.  Attach your M-1910 E-Tool. Secure the handle by using the lower of the three main inner pack straps. This will prevent the M-1910 E-Tool for moving around while either on a march or while you are running.

Step #12.  Place into your meat can pouch, your Mess Kit and secure the flap.

Step #13.  Attach your M-1905 16" In. Bayonet.

Step #14.  This is the finished product!!

I hope tonight's lesson has been beneficial to everyone.
